A Tip From The Pros You Can Use At Home
When driving screws into dense hardwood, pressure-treated lumber, or other tough materials, friction can lead to stripped screw heads or broken screws. Next time you find yourself fighting a stubborn screw that just won’t go in, try this simple trick for a smoother installation with less effort!
Start by drilling a properly sized pilot hole to make driving the screw easier and help prevent the wood from splitting. Then, lightly rub the screw threads with a bar of soap or a small amount of beeswax. This will reduce friction, allowing you to drive the screw smoothly into the pilot hole without risk!

Crawford Merz recently partnered with Caliber Collision to bring their new Lakeville location at Interstate South Logistics Park to life. The 20,600-square-foot facility opened it’s doors in August and features 24 repair bays and specialized equipment, including two paint booths, a frame rack, and a vehicle lift. Designed to support Caliber’s specialized automotive repair needs, our team was proud to help create a modern, efficient space built to serve Caliber Collision and its customers for years to come!
